Pennsylvania Jaunt, More Pictures

I originally set out to ride Rt. 6 but I found it to be congested, poor surface quality and lined with modern-build "chrome box" stores so I jumped off after a few miles onto the first interesting road to come along (Rt. 414) and was greeted with this view after less than a mile. Wahoo!

Grand Canyon of Pennsylvania - sounds like a tourist trap but it was the cleanest and best tended US park I'd ever visited (nothing come close to the Canadian Provincial Parks :) Plus, the view is amazing!

This chipmunk hopped up inches from my foot and proceeded to eat a raisin I had dropped. Hope he isn't related to the one I accidentally hit later in the day.

The town green of Wellsboro. This is one of the nicest small towns I've ever visited. The streets are lined with antique lights and stately Victorian mansions, and the town hosts an excellent (and real) Diner.

Cedar Run, an interesting side road from 414 led me to this neat little hamlet. This General Store had some of the best Ice Cream I've ever had.

Rt. 144 is truly one of the finest roads around. A decade or so ago the whole area suffered a terrible fire. Fortunately, this opened up the roadsides for incredible views :)

The forests are recovering quite well, though the few older trees still bear burnt scars.

The City of Renovo at one time must have been pretty impressive, it is an empty shell these days with many stately old buildings falling to ruin.

This house was for sale for only $67,000 - it needed very little work and came with some truly impressive period hardwood custom-build furnishings. Move this to Arlington, VA and you could easily get over a Million.
