Day 5
Woburn, PQ to Islesboro, Maine

I was up at 5am and across the border by 6am. This time the guard really didn't even seem interested at all, merely asked me if I had a good time then waved me on.

As last year, I rode Rt. 27 and then turned around and rode it twice more. I am nominating this road as the finest in Maine, and I will always go out of my way to enjoy it. Not really wanting to sightsee like last year I merely took the direct route to Islesboro without stopping but for gas. Actually I did make one "karma" stop ... as I approached Rangely I saw far ahead a pothole. Wait a minute, this pothole was moving! As I slowed down on approach I realized it was a huge turtle trying to cross the road just itching to be flattened. Well I couldn't have that so I stopped and helped the old guy a safe distance off the road in his chosen direction. Unlike most turtles that shrink into their shells when picked up this guy did an amazing "air scramble." Oh well, may he live long and prosper

It was a fantastic trip, but I was itching to take off the stich for a few days and practice my newly invigorated golf swing. As I crossed over to the island I realized that this August trip had to be a yearly event.
